Gorky began is painting by first drawing a long, slow, continuous line (a line that goes on, and on, and on, and on...). After he drew a thoughtful line, Gorky painted in and around the line. Kindergarten made their own Gorky-inspired paintings by first drawing a continuous line that walked all around the paper, and then they used water colors to paint in and around this line.
Kindergarten artists loved imagining what they saw in Gorky's painting. They especially loved describing what it would be like to be inside the painting. One little guy said it would be like standing in the middle of a rainbow bug's guts. I'd have to say that I quite agree with him.
I'm so proud of the kinder's first art project!
